Periwinkle was the name given to my Strada by Dave in 1997. It's been called lots of other less pleasant names, usually when it didn't start. It cost me £450. Parker's Older Car Price Guide 2001 gave a tempting trade price of £110. This year's edition doesn't even mention the Strada.

Periwinkle was original, except a recon gearbox, a new passenger side door and a new rear hatch. No alarm but a visual theft deterrent in the form of a can of Damp Start and a small spanner placed conspicuously in the drinks holder.

I compiled a list of worrisome features before we set out on our journey. Thanks to AutoPlus, Nottingham for pointing them out, and for the advice about not going anywhere in it.
